Holiday Nails: Black and Pink Christmas

Today's Design is . . .

The beginning of the Christmas barrage!!! I love Christmas, it is absolutely my favorite holiday. Hands down the best one. So we are going to start with something a little non-traditional. As in, replacing red and green with BLACK and PINK! They third best of the black and ______ color combos! Let's begin, shall we?

The only nail polish colors required are . . .

Finger Paints: Paper Mache
NYC: Black Lace Creme

These designs are gonna be a little weird because I decided to do the design guide after I had finished my nails . . . please don't judge me too harshly.

  1. Paint your thumb, pointer, middle, and pinkey finger with the black polish.
  2. Now get some white paint or white nail polish and your handy toothpick/dotting tool.
  3. Put dots on the bottom of the nail in an irregular pattern and don't make it just a line of white. We aren't going for a french manicure.
  4. Now do random dots on the rest of nail to imitate snow falling
Bam! Four of your Five nails are done!!!
1. Now paint you ring finger with the white polish         and pink paint/polish and wait for it to dry                 completely. White polish shows mistakes more         than any other color.
2. Make 7 dots of pink paint the pattern on the             farthest drawn nail.
3. Now connect the dots in straight lines.
4. Finally make a pink Christmas Tree and color in.

And the final product is . . ?

The first of many! Are you prepared for the Christmas onslaught??

Holiday Nails: If you can't tell, I like Halloween

Today's Design is . . .

(More) Halloween! This one is gonna be a little more advanced than some of the other ones. It is gonna take some time too. I am sorry if you guys don't like Halloween or if you want a little something different, but I am in the holiday spirit!! So, deal with it for a couple more days.

As always here are the colors we are gonna use . . .

  • Chine Glaze: Tree Hugger
  • China Glaze: Coconut Kiss
  • Finger Paints: Paper Mache
  • Finger Paints: Prints and Printsess
And so it begins. Start with your base coat. We have discussed this. ALWAYS use base coat. If you haven't picked up on that you need more help than I can offer.
After that we will do the base colors . . .
Pinkey: orange
Ring: white
Middle: green
Pointer: white
Thumb: purple

Let's start with the pinkey, this one is probably going to be the easiest one, spider web!
Make a black wavey line diagonally across the middle of the finger. It is just like the lines you used to make in elementary school to single water. Then you fill in the space from the bottom of your nail to the black line.

Next, make thin black lines from the peaks of the wave to the bottom corner of your nail. These are going to be the thick spider web lines. After that just make some swoopy lines connecting the bigger ones.

And now onto the ring finger, Vampire!!!
This one part is pretty easy. Make a dot at the point you want his hair to connect. Then make curves to the outside of your nail. And two simple dots for his eyes.
Now on the bottom of your nail make a smile and add some triangular fangs!

All that is left is to make two red dots on top of the black dots, then two white ones on top of the red ones.

And there you have a Vampire!

Onto the middle finger, the Bat!

Make a black ovalish thing, kind of the shape of a potato.

Add two little sticks for ears and some fat triangles for wings. This is a pretty simple cute bat.
Now, make two white dots for the whites of his eyes. And on the wings make three diagonal lines that all connect at the top of his wing.

Add some little black dots for his pupils and you are all done!

Pointer! Skull, very reminiscent of Jack Skellington.

Make two black dots, more oval than circular. Then add a happy smile!!

Now make two really small versions of the eyes for his nostrils. Finally some small lines for teeth/mouth stitches. I have never really been able to decide what these lines actually are.

And now the very last bit, the thumb, which today means Black Cat!

Make a decent sized black dot for the cats head. Then you have to make the body, it is just a thick black rainbow and some sticks for legs. Then do something curly for the tail.

Now just some white dots/lines for the eyes and you will have a sufficiently creepy arch-backed cat!

And the final product is . . ?

Just too freaking cute!!!

Happy Halloween!!!

Holiday Nails: Cute Halloween

Today's Design is . . .

ADORABLE HALLOWEEN!!! Hello lovelies! I know it has been a while since I made a post and I apologize. I was really sick this past week and didn't want to do anything. But! Now I am home in Texas visiting my parents and my mom wanted me to do her nails. So we decided to go with something simple and cute (She works at an elementary school, so nothing too scary!)

Finger Paints: Prints and Printsess
This is the polish I use for ALL my Halloween oranges. It is bright     and shinny but it is obnoxious.

As always we are gonna start with a good layer of base coat. Seriously, use it. Women are always getting frustrated because their at home manicures don't stay very long. When I ask them if they use base coat they say "No, I don't have time for that." In my head I am thinking "If you have time to gripe about your nails and have time to re-do them every three days, you have time for base coat." So DO IT!!!
Once that dries two coat of the Print and Printsess should do the trick!

With this design each nail is going to be something different. So I will do a finger by finger explanation of what I did.

Pinkey:
All this is is a spider web. You make three longer lines going diagonally across your nail. Then you just make slightly curved lines connect to the longer lines. Spider webs are really easy, so don't be scared.

Ring:

Pumpkins! The staple of Halloween. All you do is make two evenly sized triangles and a zig-zag line across the bottom! Super easy :)

Middle:

BOO! OH NO! SCARY WORDS!!! Some people freak out when it comes to words on your nails. They aren't any different then a triangle or a heart. They are just shapes. All you have to do is treat it like a drawing and you will be fine!

Pointer:
The spider is probably my favorite part. He is just so cute!! This one is a little more complicated because it has a bunch of steps. First, make a circle big enough to have legs. Second, don't worry about being anatomically correct. Third, make three short lines coming off of both sides. Fourth, on the end of the short lines add another short line pointing down, this makes him look distinctly spider-like.
Fifth and Sixth, add two white dots for eyes and then little black dots on the inside of those.

Thumb:
This is every kids favorite part of Halloween. CANDY!! Just like the spider make a big circle in the center. The do V's coming out of the sides, connect the V's and color them in. Then two lines for some wrapper color. This can be done with any color for any time/event/celebration/candy dependent holiday.

At the end of the day it all comes together and makes this!!!

Happy Halloween!!!!

Holiday Nails: Generic Ideas

Inspiration Everywhere!!

Holidays are definitely the best times of the year, and everyone has their favorite. Mine is Christmas, my boyfriends is Halloween. To each his own. So, here are some designs I have done at holiday times this past year.

EASTER!!!
The first are mine and they are really simple, just different Easter colors with white polka-dots
The second are my mom's they are like mine with the different Easter colored base with alternating color dots.

4th of July!!!!

These are tons of 4th of July ideas. (Starting at the top left)

  • Red base, white stripe, blue dots on the white stripe.
  • Red, white, and blue alternating bases with the other color dots (for example: blue base with red and white dots.)
  • Red, white, and blue alternating bases with the other color stripes (for example: red base with blue and white stripes.)
  • Right hand: white base with red stripes        Left hand: blue base with white stripes
  • White base with red and blue fire works (these are done with Sharpies)
  • White base with red stripes and blue tips, then white dots on the blue
  • These last ones could double as Captain America nails. White base with red stripes, then blue base with a white star.

HALLOWEEN!!!!
All of these are white bases with black decoration.
Thumb: spider webs
Pointer: the spider that made the web
Middle: BOO!
Ring: polka-dots because everything is better with polka-              dots
Pinky: Bats! Every body loves bats!

CHRISTMAS!!!!
Christmas is the greatest holiday ever, no contest. I would not recommend doing these unless you are really really good at nail designs

Thumb: Santa!!
Pointer: Snowman, this took the longest by far
Middle: Abstract Christmas tree
Ring: Present
Pinky: Christmas Lights

Holiday Nails: Simple Halloween

Today's Design is . . .

SIMPLE HALLOWEEN!!! I got a new kind of polish today at Wall-Mart on a whim. I saw it in the Maybelline section (you guys will probably learn that Maybelline is my favorite inexpensive make-up) and couldn't look away.

I got the black and white one, because you can never go wrong with the classiest of color combination. It is $2.97 in the nail section of Maybelline with the other Color Show. I have never used this brand before so y'all get to experience this with me!

To start off the simple Halloween nails you need . . .
Beauty Secrets: base coat
Finger Paints: Prints and Printsess
Color Show Polka Dots: Clearly Spotter
Beauty Secrets: top coat

The first thing, ladies and gents, it to slather your lovely nails with some base coat. The better your base coat the less chips your polish will have and the longer the design will stay. Moral is, INVEST IN YOUR BASE/TOP COAT! Spend the money now so you don't waste your colored polish. Once the base is dry and 1-2 coats of the orange.
I usually wait about 5 minutes after applying base coat before I add the color. Your base coat has to be dry before you add more. Come to think of it, for every layer of anything you ever put on your nails, wait until you can lightly drag another finger across your nail without causing any wrinkles or smudging in any way. You will thank me later and save your sanity if you listen to this.

Now for the part that makes it Halloween. The black and white chunky clear coat. These kinds of polishes are a little weird. The polish that falls into the "chunky clear coat" category is anything that has stuff in it (glitter, foil, sequins, and chunks) but no color in the actual liquid portion.
For Example: the Color Show Polka Dot polish that I chose has big black chunks, big white chunks, and small black glitter. But, when I put it over the orange it does not change the color of the orange.

When you put it on the top of your color it should look like this . . .

So here we have it! Super super simple nails that still scream Halloween! It literally takes about 20 minutes if you do the "layer waiting" portion (seriously though, do it. I can't tell you how many designs I have ruined because I was too impatient). Give it a try yourself and have fun!

More Love for e.l.f

It's time for an emergency e.l.f post!!!
This post isn't going to be just nails. The collection has make-up too so I will be telling you about that too.

Hello my lovelys! This is an emergency post about something I found on Pinterest. e.l.f. has released something special for its Fall Collection and it is all about . . . DISNEY!!!!!

e.l.f. has created 4 lookbooks and 1 nail polish cube! The best part about all of this is that the inspiration comes from the best of the Disney Villains!

Ursula - The Little Mermaid

1 eyelid primer, 6 eyeshadows, 1 brightening eyeliner, 1 liquid liner, 1 mascara, 1 lip color and 1 eyeshadow brush.

The Evil Queen - Snow White

1 eyelid primer, 6 eyeshadows, 1 brightening eyeliner, 1 liquid liner, 1 mascara, 1 lip color and 1 eyeshadow brush.

Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty

1 eyelid primer, 6 eyeshadows, 1 brightening eyeliner, 1 liquid liner, 1 mascara, 1 lip color and 1 eyeshadow brush.

Cruella De Vil - 101 Dalmatians

1 eyelid primer, 6 eyeshadows, 1 brightening eyeliner, 1 liquid liner, 1 mascara, 1 lip color and 1 eyeshadow brush.

And now for the nail stuff!!!

This is going to be another cube like the ones I spoke about in my e.l.f review. So, the bottles will be the small ones. But if you are like me an hoard nail polish I wont ever use all of it, so the size doesn't matter. There are 3 colors for each villain. I am so excited

The best thing about e.l.f. is that none of their stuff is expensive. It is absolutely amazing for beginners and people like me who don't want to buy a $35 bronzer brush. If you want to experiment with make-up buy e.l.f.. If you don't do much with nails, but want to get more colors, buy an e.l.f. cube. It is great because brushes are $1, big nail polish bottles are $2. Nicer brushes are $3. Concealer sticks are $3. A mini-pallet of eyeshadow is $3. It is amazing. e.l.f. can be found at Wal-mart, Walgreens, Target, and online.

And now the best part!!
All of these are avaliable at Walgreens for $9.99!!
So go all of you and buy them all, or at least the nails! Be villainous and have a wonderful day!
